(Santo Domingo, July 27, 2007) The Funglode Cup golf tournament 2007 will be played November 2 thru 4 at Casa de Campo in La Romana.

The cocktail for the FUNGLODE Cup 2007 golf tournament was held in Santo Domingo, 27 of 2007 July. The tournament will be played from the 2 to 4th of November 2007 in La Romana. The Organizing Committee formally annouced the tournament Friday night at the office of the Global Foundation Democracy and Development, in the presence of sponsors, players and honored guest of the business world.

Friday 2 of November is going to be different than other years. Throughout the day, a businesses forum will be conducted for the industralists and national and foreign investors. At night the welcome cocktail will take place.

Eddy Martinez, president of the Organizing Committee, recalled that the past year’s tournament had a record number of participants “We had 170 golfers from eight countries. This year we are trying for 200 golfers from 12 nations. Judging by the intrest up until now,this is feasible. At the moment, we know some people will come from the United States, Brazil and Spain”.

Another supporter of the CUP FUNGLODE 2007 is the Tiger Woods Foundation. “Several of its members are going to be here with us and we are exploring avenues of collaboration for projects in the Dominican Republic with them”, Eddy Martinez said. “Tiger will not be with us, but we hope that he will next year”,He added.

The tournament will be played the 3 and 4 of November 2007, Saturday and Sunday, respectively, on the Dye Fore and the La Romana Country Club golf courses in La Romana. As is the tradition,the honary President of FUNGLODE and President of the Republic, Leonel Fernandez will commemorate the tournament at midday of the November the 3rd 2007.

Carlos Arias, Technical Director of the tournament, will explain the Stable Ford system of scoring and how points are accumlated. Saturday the first round will start at 12:00 noon. The second round will start at 8:00am Sunday. There will be four categories for men (A,B,C,D) and a senior category along with one category for women.

We will have celebration plus a drawing Saturday night and the Awards dinner along with a dance will be held Sunday night to complete the program.Also there will be other activities for the entertainment of asistants.

Anyone that registers before the 1 of October, will receive a discount of 10.000 pesos or 300 dollars.

The Dominican Federation of Golf will support our efforts, as indicated by thier president, Francisco Melo, before the cocktail that took place for FUNGLODE CUP 2007. “This year we will support the tournament with all our efforts to insure a greater success”.
